Why It’s Time for the City of Comfort
Comfort is more than a name — it’s our home. But without city status, we’re left behind when it matters most. As our town grows, we need to take control of our future — before others keep making the decisions for us.
❄️ When the 2021 Winter Storm Hit, We Were Overlooked
During the devastating winter storm a few years ago, Kendall County received emergency funding from the Texas Department of Emergency Management. But most of that support stayed in Boerne. Comfort was left to fend for itself. Without city status, we couldn’t ask for or manage our own disaster resources — and we still can’t. Incorporation means we can prepare better, respond faster, and protect our community when it counts.
🚓 Delayed Law Enforcement Isn’t Good Enough
If there’s a serious incident in Comfort, it could take the sheriff’s office one to two hours to arrive. That’s unacceptable. As a city, we’d have the option to create our own local law enforcement or marshal's office — ready to respond, not waiting on a call from Boerne.
🏘️ Growth Without Control Is a Risk
Comfort is expanding fast. Without incorporation, we have no say in how subdivisions are built or how our land is used. If we want to preserve the character of Comfort — and protect our infrastructure and environment — we need to take control through zoning and local ordinances.
⚡ Protect Our Land from Unwanted Industrial Projects
Want to stop industrial battery storage systems from being built next to homes or near the school? We can't do that unless we incorporate. City status gives us zoning authority — which means we can protect our land, our safety, and our peace of mind.
💵 The Loudest Voices Are Protecting Their Profits, Not Comfort
Some of the people shouting the loudest against incorporation are the ones making money while we stay unincorporated. They benefit from fewer rules and outside control — and want to keep it that way. It's time we stop letting a loud minority hold the rest of us back.
It’s time to become the City of Comfort.
